Hello,
I am trying to install ESXI on my brand new build. I got my system booting off an USB drive with ESXI 5.5.0 in it. When it is time to decide where to install the ESXI, it does not detect any of the internal drives, only the USB drives.
These are some of the parts of my build:
Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
ASUS ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 Motherboards MAXIMUS VI FORMULA
OCZ Vertex 460 480GB SSD - 2.5", 7MM, SATA III - VTX460-25SAT3-480G
Western Digital Red 6 TB NAS Hard Drive 1 to 8-Bay 3.5-inch SATA 6, IntelliPower, 64MB Cache Internal Bare or OEM Drives WD60EFRX
So far I have tried partitioning these disks with NTFS and FAT32, but no luck.
Do I need to add a driver to my ESXI ISO or something similar? Any help would be MUUUCH appreciated.
Cheers!
Jorge
Welcome to the community,
as you point out you have to inject those drivers to the ESXi 5.5 installation ISO...
check these sources:
also see:
VMware KB: Devices deprecated and unsupported in ESXi 5.5
For hardware compatibility difficulties in lab/home environment as workaround you can also run ESXi as nested in VMware Workstation instead of deploying it directly to your laptop hardware, for more details look here:
VMware KB: Support for running ESXi/ESX as a nested virtualization solution
