Hello,
I have an ESXi Host running a single VM (Windows Server 2012).
I'm trying to consolidate snapshots but it fails. All snapshots have been deleted and they don't appear in the Snapshot Manager.
I checked in the VM's folder in the Datastore and all the snapshot disks are there. Right now the VM is using one of those disks.
The total storage is 1TB and it has 220GB of free space.
What is the error
you can try this
1. Storage vmotion then try
2. If not resolved shutdown vm and move ctk file on different directory
Turn off the VM, reboot the physical host (this will help clear locked files), then create a snapshot and do a Delete All operation.
if problem will not resolve please try to clone your VM machine .
Clone the VM, new vm will not have snapshots you can then delete old VM and all snapshots. What backup software are you using?
Adding to previous comment. Follow KB to remove snapshot from command line
Snapshot Manager fails to detect snapshots of VMs (1026380) | VMware KB
To monitor snapshot removal follow below kb
Snapshot removal task stops at 99% in ESXi/ESX (1007566) | VMware KB

Hi ,
Power off VM , create new snapshot , use remove all snapshot
and do a consolidation
power on and check
Isn't this preciously what is already suggested in previous two comments?
Check this out Re: SnapShots cannot be removed on 5.5
Plz provide the exact error:
There are many reasons for getting consolidation snapshot error.
You can try these in sequence.
1. Power off the VM(Downtime)
2.Start new snapshot
3.After completion delete snapshot
4.PerformStorage vmotion.
5.Start consolidation,it will work
Hello
Is the snap shot created by any backup application ?
I had a issue close to this with a 16 TB vm what i did was converted theVM with PV2 tool to as new machine . or even clone also works .
Try to run consolidation in power off state.
Short cut works fine
Hi ,
I have not checked that when i replied , that from cli and if face the issue you should create new snapshot from powered off mode .
And have to ran consolidation once snapshot remove all finishes .
if those recommendations does not works,
try restart hostd service in ESXi via SSH
# /etc/init.d/hostd restart
it will work if all the snapshot consolidation procedure failed.
