Cannot configure network on VMs on new installation of 6.5

I've moved a VM developed under VMware Player. I had to run the vmkfstools to update the VM. The VM runs fine, and I can connect to the console.

I have configured both the management network, and the VM Network. I can ping both of them. However, I cannot configure or connect the network on the VM.

When I select the VM, I get this message: "This VM is attached to a network portgroup that doesn't exist. Edit this VM and attach it to a different network. "

I've also tried to create a new VM, and it will not let me select a network.

Any help is appreciated.

I can ping both of them.

You cannot ping a VM port group. Please check whether you accidentally created a VMkernel port group instead of a VM port group. A VM port goup does not have an IP address.
