Hi everyone,
I've been trying to get both ESX and ESXi 4.1 to install on some devices with an Intel 82577LM Gigabit NIC, however there doesn't appear to be any driver support within the standard builds
Does anyone have/know of any additional driver support available, or if support for this NIC will be released in a future update?
Regards
Stuart
Welcome to the forums.
Have a look here. http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/datacenter_downloads/vmware_vsphere_hypervisor_esxi/4#drivers_too...
A quick google search turned up lots of issues with drivers for other OSs.
If it is not there you may be able to modify the simple.map file. http://vm-help.com and look for instructions on identifying the PCI ID and modifying the simple.map.
Hi,
Thanks for that. I tried adding the PCI ID to the simple.map file but it still didn't work (which was expected). I'm now prepping a system to build a new e1000e driver following the guides on vm-help, which should hopefully sort it
Failing that, hopefully in the next ESXi update a later Intel NIC driver will be pushed that has support for this chip.
Thanks for the help
Hi, did you sort it out meanwhile. I Have the same problem and stil searching for a solution.
Hi,
Anyone has got 82577LM NIC working with ESXi?
Thanks.
Hi, I'm from Japan. Please forgive me of my poor English.
Use oem-8086-10f0-v1119.tgz shown in the following thread.
http://www.vm-help.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2194&start=0
You need to customize simple.map & pci.ids inside the tgz file to suit to 82577.
It have successfully worked on Lenovo X201s with Intel 82577LM NIC.

Hello,
Have you successfully solved this? I am having the same problems with ESX 4, however the drivers needs to be updated on installation, so I only found the pre-packaged drivers for 82576 and 82580.
Thanks,
RK
