I've Googled for this and I can't Google anymore....
A simple action back in 5.5 appears to have problems now that I have upgrade most of the standalone ESXi servers to 6.5:
Live Resizing of Disks - aka resize without shutting down the VM.
ESXi 6.5 Build 5224529 (1 version old):
VM version 11 (6.0 VM)
Host Client - Cannot change size numerical value. Greyed out. CAN change UNIT: MB, GB, TB, etc.
Thick Client - CAN change both.
VM version 13 (6.5 VM)
Host Client - Cannot change size numerical value. Greyed out. CAN change UNIT: MB, GB, TB, etc.
Thick Client - Won't open Edit Settings at all.
All disks Thick, lazy zeroed
No snapshots
Size of disks less than 2TB. Often as small as 60GB.
What am I missing? Is this a bug? VMware wants to move to the host client, but I can't do basic tasks I used to be able to do.
Updated a "test" server to latest build, 5310538. So far that would seem to have fixed it. Just have a couple of Windows 7 VMs there, but ensured the disks showed greyed out before I updated.
