VMware Guest API is not enabled on the host

Hi,

I'm getting this error from a call to VMGuestLib_UpdateInfo (error code 3).

Guest SDK library is there of course and the session opens successfully.

The error doesn't occur in other VMs on the same host.

VMware Tools are installed in all the VMs on the host.

The Guest API is not disabled in the VM's configuration file (no isolation.tools.guestlibGetInfo.disable = "TRUE" entry in it).

I've run out of ideas. I'd appreciate any help or slightest suggestions.

What host/guest OS?

check that the vmware-guestd service is running

1. pstree | grep vmware

should say

├─vmware-guestd
