Upgrading Tools on Shutdown

Prior to vSphere 5, when you selected the 'Check and upgrade Tools during power cycling' option, VMware Tools would upgrade right before the machine rebooted when a power cycle was issued.

Beginning in vSphere 5, this behavior changed so that now the server first reboots, then the upgrade kicks off right when the server is back up. Once the upgrade completes 5-10 minutes later, you then get prompted to reboot AGAIN to complete the install.

This is very annoying. Does anyone know if there is a way to revert to the old behavior so that a second reboot is not required to upgrade tools automatically on a reboot?
