vmkfstools in CLI 5.5 does not support vmfs5

I have vmware-vSphere-CLI-5.5.0-1292267 installed on vMA 5.5.0 BUILD-1295338, and it looks like the vmkfstools perl script does not create vmfs5 file systems. The perldoc only refers to vmfs3, and I get an error when I specify vmfs5:  "Unable to create vmfs: A specified parameter was not correct"

The vmkfstools installed on our ESXi hosts is not Perl, it is a binary, and it looks like it does support vmfs5.  So, does this mean we can't use the CLI to create vmfs5 datastores?

Yes, this does indeed appear to be the case. You must use the vmkfstools installed on the ESXi host.
