iSCSI error: H:0x5 D:0x0 P:0x0 Possible sense data: 0x5 0x25 0x0.

I'm on ESX 4.0u2 and using SANMelody 3 PSP4 update 2 for iSCSI.

I'm randomly losing access to my LUNs. When that happens a bunch of the following

errors would appear in the ESXi log:

May 25 10:46:50 esx01 vmkernel: 47:23:09:09.678 cpu8:4212)NMP: nmp_CompleteCommandForPath: Command 0x2a (0x41000705bc40) to NMP device "naa
.60030d9053315356564d533031000000" failed on physical path "vmhba35:C0:T0:L41" H:0x5 D:0x0 P:0x0 Possible sense data:
May 25 10:46:50 esx01  0x5 0x25 0x0.

The SCSI code is always the same when it happens.

According to

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&externalId=289902

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=102903...

http://www.t10.org/lists/2sensekey.htm

H: 0x5 = VMK_SCSI_HOST_ABORT

😧 0x0 = GOOD

P: 0x0 = ?

sense data

0x5 = ILLEGAL REQUEST

0x25 0x0 = LOGICAL UNIT NOT SUPPORTED

Anyone experiencing the same problem? Is this an issue with my SAN or ESXi host?

Thanks.

found a thread which shows identical message and it was due to large traffic. http://communities.vmware.com/thread/280337 i would highly suggest logging a call with vmware support to look further ..
