Support on Windows 2008 R2

The prior version 4.0 use to support XP 64-bit.

Am I reading this right? 4.1 no longer does?

It also says it can be installed on Windows 2008 64-bit.

Does that include 2008 R2?

Thanks.

Welcome to the VMware Community forums. I'm not sure exactly why they don't list XP x64, but I would guess that they've only tested a limited number of platforms. I'm using 4.1 on W2K8 R2 and haven't had any issues. Likewise I've been using W2K3 R2, but only W2K3 is listed.

Haven't noticed any problems on 2008 R2, and I suppose there would be no problems on XP 64bit.

It should work. But you should install a server application on a workstation OS. In addition xp 64 was a crappy OS version from microsoft.

ANY x64 os would be better on drivers, memory management, power management, boot time, windows installer.

It's basically windows 2003 x64 kernel re-released as XP 64.

Use win 2003 x64 if you want the closest thing to XP 64.

It's not a heavily used OS, as when it was released, 64 bit wasn't big on the desktop.
