Is ti possible get a VM to reset from within Linux O/S?

I have a user that is a developer that needs the O/S to revert back to its orinal stat upon reboot. I set his VM to "non-persistent" state but the VM on reverts back to the original state after I reboot the actual VM and not thru the O/S of the VM. The user does not have access to virtual center. Is there a way I can set this so that the user can get the VM to reboot himself or can I create some sore of script within ESX so that when the O/S of that VM is rebooted it will reset the VM? THe O/S in use is Redhat Linux.

No, you cannot reset the VM from within the guest OS, except for using the vSphere API which would also require a user with appropriate permissions. Think of it as a physical server room.  Unless you have the key to the room you cannot press the power on button on a system.

I'd recommend you take a look at permissions and roles as mentioned by AndreTheGiant in your other thread.
