Registering plugin for vsphere html client 6.7

Hi,

Can you please suggest what is the best way to register the plugin for html client 6.7.

We have tried using the extension-registration cli commands.

We have developed UI tool as well to register the plugin.

In both cases, we need to restart the vsphere-ui services after we register. Is it mandatory to restart the ui services after registering/unregistering the plugin.

Hi,

You can register your plugin by either using the ExtensionManager in the vCenter or the extension-registration tool available in the SDK.

It is enough to just log out and log back in to trigger a download of the plugin. After you log in, you should get a message saying that you have a new plugin installed in which case you need to log out/in again to see the plugin.

Using the extension-registration tool will it hold good for customers who want to register the plugin as well, or is there any other way for customers.

The extension-registration tool is prepared for development purposes. It's not very user-friendly for plugin users. Normally plugins come with their own registration tool/installer - and what it is exactly depends on the particular use-case. We ship the extension registration tool with its source code for you to integrate it into your installer - or for illustration purposes if your installer is not Java-based.
