vro8 Enable Remote Debugging

Has anyone figured out how to enable remote java debugging in vro8.0?  It looks like I can get the container started with -Xdebug -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,suspend=n,server=y,address=5055 passed, but I can't figure out how to make a network connection.  I have tried to use the kubectl port-forward option, but that seems to just time out.  Any suggestions is appreciated.
