vcCustomizationSysprep

I'm looking for some guidance on how vcCustomizationSpec and vcCustomizationSysprep relate. I've been looking for ways to (via Scritable Task) modify
an existing VM via vcCustomization -- attributes of vcCustomizationSyspref such as GuiUnattended.timezone, Identification.[domainadmin, domainAdminPassword, joinDomain]

I do find several examples that pertain to vcCustomizationSpec (https://communities.vmware.com/thread/286988)...

But haven't seen much that relates to vcCustomizationSyspref (or related) or how they interrelate...

Any direction or guidance?

Have a look at attached screenshot, to get an idea how this (well, very extensively modeled) GuestCustomizationSpec is built.

Thanks!!!

Out of curiousity, where did this come from? Is this contained in one of the frequently referenced books? Is so, which (title/author/isbn)? Does it also include any further information/examples that relate?

That's from Steve Jin's book about the vSphere API and SDK. http://www.amazon.de/VMware-VI-VSphere-SDK-Infrastructure/dp/0137153635/

Even if it's written for vCenter 4, most of the data model is still the same in version 5.x. The book is highly recommended, even if it focuses on the VI Java SDK, because it contains a lot more of these UML charts (the one above is the one you need most, though 🙂

Cheers,

Joerg
