VM computername from vapp delete Blocking Task

All,

I posted a question a week ago about obtaining VM information from a vapp delete blocking task  http://communities.vmware.com/message/2043226#2043226

I was able to get this workflow working well with the help of Burke, but now I have the need to get the vm's computer name (hostname) from that some blocking task information.

Anyone have any tips on this one?

Thanks!

No luck there with the current apis.. you'll have to get very creative to figure this one out. We spent a lot of time trying to get this piece of information but were unsuccessful. My team ran into this issue months ago and submitted bugs to Engineering. We hope to see more information such as hostname available in blocking tasks in a future version of vCD. For now we're a bit stuck on this issue.

Burke is correct. We have been struggling with this one. A possible work around for this is to use the new vApp / VM is created to save a record (File / resource element / configure element / DB record) with the vApp VM ID and its computername when a new vApp / VM is created. Not ideal but it can work.

Christophe.
