VCO Upgrade to 5.5.2 and VCAC 6.1 Plugin

I recently upgraded my VCO 5.5.1 to 5.5.2 and I noticed the VCAC host plugin portion quit displaying my catalogs etc, so I could not provision.  I proceeded to upgrade the VCAC plugin to 6.1 and it fixed half the issues, but ultimately I rolled VCO back to 5.5.1 because I am waiting for the VCAC 6.1 Update 1 update before I try again.

Just an FYI

Has there been any traction on the 6.1 upgrade?  I know my first attempt failed due to VCO connectivity issues with permissions etc.  I am waiting for the next update for both VCO and VCAC.

Thank you

I am using vCO 5.5.2 and vCAC 6.1 plugin with no problem.  I did not upgrade.  I installed from scratch.

I don't know any issues with vCO 5.5.2 and the vCAC 6.1 plug-in. I used the vCO 5.5.2 with the vCAC 6.1 plug-in on vCAC 6.0.1 without problems. On an other environment I've updated vCAC from 6.0 to 6.1 while during upgrade the vCAC plug-in was also updated which also works fine. So from my experience this all works fine.

You could test by deploying a new vCO 5.5.2 appliance (only vCO which should be done quickly), install the vCAC 6.1 plug-in, synchronize workflows and check everything works fine.

Support told to wait till update 1 comes out.  My VCO/VCAC installation is healthy until I upgraded.  Restored everything and standing by.

I did a massive upgrade of components last week; vCenter 5.5. U2, vCAC 6.1, vCO 5.5.2.1 (+ updating the vAC Plugin to 6.1), and vCOPS 5.8.3. Didn't have any real heartburn to speak of. Everything more or less worked as expected upgrading each of the components. Given what I saw in the vCAC communities, I was kind of surprised as to what a non-issue it all was.... and I even added in another fix or two I've been working with GSS to get functioning over the last month or so to enhance usability for my consumers. On top of that, we did a massive forklift of workflow functionality, too... so it was a non-trivial upgrade to say the least. Even if you're gun-shy on vCAC, I don't see any reason to hold off updating vCO.. if for no other reason than to get the shell shock fixes in 5.5.2.1; vCAC 6.0.x has shell shock fixes in place, too.

Just my nickel of thought. Smiley Happy

Yep. Followed the upgrade guide to the letter. First the Identity Appliance, then the vCAC Appliance, then the IaaS components in sequence (after upgrading to .Net 4.5.1 and patching): first, upgrade Database using the dbupgrade utility, then start install on server with the website (longest part of the upgrade, since it updates models, etc). Then upgraded the box running the Manager service / DEM Orchestrator. Then the boxes running the DEM Workers and vSphere Proxy Agents. In that order, not starting one until the last one was completed. Then I went and updated vCO, but that's really just a matter of vCO having more nuance (for me) because of the other workflow updates I had to perform, too.

Highly recommend you give a read through the upgrade docs; one of the better put together pieces in all of this.

Something minor happened which was my external stub timeouts reverted back to defaults.  I modified those after the upgrade.  Just an FYI.

Now that I think about it, the DatacenterLocations.xml file was reset; didn't even think about it.  At least it was something minor and easy to fix?

Was easy.  After everything was stable, I went ahead and updated VCO and noticed I lost all of my Vcloud Automation center plugin data.  the VCAC infrastructure data was there.  After I upgraded the plugin, I am cooking with fire.

Thanks again

I spoke too soon.  Looks like my VCAC server keeps getting disconnected from VCO. When I reboot, it works for some time then quits. Not sure why yet.  Also When I follow the request from VCAC ASD to VCO, the workflow shows its running but frozen for a few minutes before it starts working.  The VC plugin also is really slow.  This is all after my VCO upgrade.  Thinking of rolling VCO back to 5.5.1

Rolling back VCO fixed my issue.  Not sure why VCAC is having issues connecting to VCO 5.5.2, but I have to attack this issue at another time.  Workflows executed in an odd fashion and very slow.  Maybe I am missing something?

I upgraded one of our environments tonight to 5.5.2 and also experienced whatever this issue is.  After upgrading to 5.5.2 none of the inventory items in the vCACCAFE area showed up.  I tried removing it and re-adding it but it didn't seem to make a difference.  Upgrading the plugin to 6.1 brought most of the inventory items back aside from the catalog items.  Rolling back to vCO 5.5.1 + vCAC 6.0.1 plugin stabilized things.

I am going to submit a case about this as I would like to have the latest VCO.  I have found that when I perform the upgrades, I test all of my main workflows as well as the VCAC gui - ASD as well back into VCO.  I will let you know what they say.
