VCO Book - Input Requested

Basically I'm looking for all manner of input for the Troubleshooting seciton of the upcoming vCO Book from VMware Press:

More info here:

http://professionalvmware.com/2011/09/input-requested-vco-book-troubleshooting/

The outline I'm working with looks like this:

Possible Problems
- vCO Server rebooted
- Lost Connectivity
- Broken Workflow

Finding Information
- Where vCO Hides log files
- Finding the last time a workflow ran
- Finding the cracks in a broken workflow
– Workflow validation
– Locking
– Stepping through by hand (in vSphere Client, etc)

Thoughts?

Thanks,

-C

Hi Cody,

This isn't related to troubleshooting, but something I'd really like to see in the book is a section on the new VIX-like functionality in the vSphere 5 API's. I think a big part of automating a VMware environment is going to be automating actions within the guest OS.

You can see my thread here: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1836578 asking about the GuestOperationsManager. Particularly focusing on how the SSPI authentication works.

If you've already got that written, I'd be more than happy to test it and give you feedback on it. Smiley Happy

Also, great blog. I'm a regular reader.

Thanks!

Ahh. That's not currently "in-scope" as the vSphere 5.x plug-in was not available as I started writing. I do however have a section on guest automation using the VIX plugin.

I can try to work it into a follow-up blog post however.

Some of the setup related issues might be helpful, specifically in a multi-domain environment. I would also suggest more detail around getting the plugins to work properly, as well as clustering VCO for those who wish to do that.
