Unable to launch Application- vCO Client and strange Error - "JDBC exception on Hibernate data access... "

Hi,

We have a setup of vCO 5.5.1 integrated with vCAC 6.0.1. The setup was working fine. Recently, we encountered an issue where we were not able to run any workflow's associated with vCAC. The following error is thrown "JDBC exception on Hibernate data access: SQLException for SQL [???]; SQL state [null]; error code [0]; Cannot release connection; nested exception is org.hibernate.exception.GenericJDBCException: Cannot release connection in vCO" . Don't know what's happening with vCO. Can anybody help me out on this? It's urgent!!

In order to fix this issue, all the plug-ins were reloaded and services were restarted. This didn't help much.

There is one more issue that is popping up after this. We are unable to launch the vCO Client. Fig.1

We are not able to access the following URL: https://<vCO-IP-Address>:8281. Fig.2

We are able to access the vCO configuration page (https://<vCO-IP-Address>:8283) and the vCO Appliance page (https://<vCO-IP-Address>:5480)

Your help would be appreciated. Thanks.

No much details were given to us. Just got the resolution. In the vCO Configuration page, under the Network tab just set the IP to 0.0.0.0 and restart the vCO Configurator Server. Login back to vCO Configuration page and restart the service. This worked like a charm!! This is the resolution for the vCO not opening in port 8281. Once this was done, even the vCO Client started to open.

Coming to the JDBC error, as soon as this issue was fixed, the JDBC error didn't appear. So, I'm not sure about the exact resolution for that.

Hi,

From the screenshots 2 and 3 it seems like your vCO server stopped working because of some reason. When log to the vco web configurator what is the status of the vco service? And is everything green (especially Database tab). Also did you do any special steps and scenarios before the vCO stops working. What are the workflows that you are trying to run? Could you provide some fresh logs to look at them?

Regards,

Galina

Hi Galina,

The vCO Service status is Running. We are running some Advance Services in vCAC and certain VM Post Provisioning workflow's such as updating the CMDB etc., and everything is green including the Database.

Before the JDBC error, nothing much was done in vCO. This error suddenly popped up. With respect to unable to launch the vCO Client, we tried adding the Database again and Authentication was reconfigured. After that we were unable to open the client and connect to URL https://<vCO-IP-Address>:8281

Can you be specific with which logs you want to have a look?

Any specifics on resolution you can share? If so, having the details here would help when people search for that error string...

Even, i have encountered a similar issue. We have two ways to fix the problem.

1. Go to Java programs in Control Panel from where you are launching the vCO client. Change the security level to medium.

If you still see the issue,

2. Uninstall and re-install Java.
