Only the Orchestrator Client 4.1 is supported to run on Windows 7 64 bit.
see http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40/vsp_compatibility_matrix.pdf page 18
André
hi andré,
yes you are right and i use the version 4.1 (4.1.0 build 581).
jeff
I did not install the client on a 64-bit environmend myelf yet, however it looks like you have to use the client included in the server installation package. Please read http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vco_410_install_config_guide.pdf pages 21 - 23.
André
Yes, if you want to run a 64-bit client you should use the full vCO 4.1 installer that comes with vSphere 4.1, that installs both the client and the server on 64-bit machines.
The separate standalone client installer is for installing a client on a 32-bit machine only, with no server. So, if you want to use the 32-bit client, you install a server on a 64-bit machine, then install a standalone 32-bit client on a 32-bit machine. You can then connect to the vCO 4.1 64-bit server from the vCO 4.1 32-bit client.
The server only runs on 64-bits.
As the previous poster mentions, this is covered in the Installation and Configuration Guide.
Hope that this clarifies the issue.

hello all,
thank's for waking up - yes i found the client on the vcenter installation and it works fine.
thx
jeff
Where is the 32-bit client installer located? I don't see it on the vCenter 4.1 .iso and I don't see it as downloadable..
Hello,
The 32-bit client installer is not included in the vSphere 4.1 ISO but is available as a separate download on the same site from which you download vSphere.
Thanks,
stuart

Stuart-
Can you be more specific with the download location. I cannot find it.
Thanks!

Hi Brian,
It just took me while to find it too
Go to http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/datacenter_downloads/vmware_vsphere_4/4
Click VMware vCenter Server 4.1 and modules under Essentials, or Essentials Plus, etc. depending what kind of vSphere license you have.
Click Show Details next to Components in the table of information about the download. You should see that the vCO 32-bit client is included in the vCenter Server download bundle. See attached screencap.
Apologies for not being more specific earlier, but I thought that the download was more visible.
