Netapp + VCO?

Greetings, trying to locate any plugins for VCO and Netapp (OnCommand or FAS).  Demos abound, but can't find a download...

There is no public plug-in yet. Please request information to your NetApp representative. The more people doing it the more chances NetApp consider releasing one.

Hi,

just wanted to point out that you can use the ssh calls, cause vCO has an ssh plug-in Smiley Happy

Hey,

maybe it's better to install the NetAPP-Powershell CMDlets and use the vCO with Powershell?

(The CMDlet's are very powerful and easy to use)

Marc

+1 for what Marc said. Using the Powershell will connect across the https interface to the filer using API calls, but if you used SSH-based calls then you would not be able to access filers where an admin was logged in since they do not allow concurrent connections (Service Processor aside).

I know that the plug-in created for Orchestrator is only available through NetApp but I would not expect them to give this out to you since they are pushing their WFA (Work Flow Automation) product for NetApp and interacting with WFA via REST.

I think it would be better to have a community driven set of workflows using the Powershell method personally, in general the NetApp APIs are pretty good and this is how I would approach it unless you have some sort of arrangement for WFA. The downside is having to then maintain 2 automation systems (and the ensuing troubleshooting when something goes awry).

Powershell...keep getting this response to VCO questions, not really looking to augment a work flow tool with lots of powershell, at that rate, should just throw a webinterface and kick off powershell from there...

My irritation level with WFA exists because the OnCommand plugin exists on the MS System Center side of the house...

You may be able to get the NetApp plug-in if you ask NetApp. If this is not possible they must have a web service API. You can use the SOAP / REST plug-ins to interact with these.
