LDAP Test Login vmware Orchestrator Configuration

Hello,

I am trying to configure VMware Orchestrator Configuration for Lifecycle Manager. I am having some problems with LDAP Test Login. I am finally able to connect to AD so my status is "green." However, I cannot succesfully run Test Login. I see the following error:

Error: ch.dunes.login.ldap.LdapElementsGeneric

What does that mean? Therefore, I have issue with Plugins. I cannot install anything. I am a bit confused what credentials to use there anyway. I tried Administrator (which is domain admin as well as vmware which I added to administrators group). It's all on localhost. I installed AD just for a purpose of LCM.

So 2 questions - how do I fix the issue with Test Login under LDAP and what user I use to enable plugins. I am not sure who is a member of VMP Administration group. How can I check?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi there,

You must be sure to specify your "VMO Admin Group" on the LDAP page, as well as the "User lookup base" and "Group lookup base". Without those three things specified, you will have a very difficult time progressing any further. In particular, in order for the plugins to install, your "Administrator" account must be in the group you designated as the "VMO Admin Group" on the LDAP page.

One additional note; when specifying your Username on the LDAP configuration page, I have found that it is best to use the form "administrator@yourdomain.com". This is the ONLY place that this syntax has helped me with configuration of LDAP for LCM.

Change your Username to either "administrator@rbavmware.****.com" or "administrator@****.com" . Try each of those and see if either one lets you progress further.

I actually changed VMO Admin Group under LDAP tab, added LCM Administrators group under my AD and that solved the problem. Now I need to configure it with my Virtual Infrastructure.

Ok, stuck with VMware Virtual Infrastructure 3 now. Missing a certificate. How do I go about fixing that?

Error: SSL exception, 'SSL certificate is missing for this host'

Go into your VMware Orchestrator Configuration, and click on Network

In the right window, click on the SSL Certificate tab

Enter the hostname or IP Address of your VirtualCenter Server in the Import from URL text box and click Import.

Once it has been imported, you must restart the configuration service.

You may do this from your Windows Services control panel, or within VMware Orchestrator Configuration:

Click "VMware Virtual Infrastructure 3" OR "Server" , then click "Restart the VMO configuration service" in the right window.

Once the service has been restarted, add your VirtualCenter server if you haven't already.. otherwise, log back into the Configuration and confirm that you no longer have an error on the VMware Virtual Infrastructure setting.

THANK YOU very much! That worked.

I tried before with "from file" but it didn't like it.

Anyway, I have all components green now, so I should be able to take it a step further. Got to leave for the day but will play more tomorrow. Thanks again for all your help! VERY APPRECIATED!

1 what is the vmo admin group

if you connect to the VMO using the VMO Gui smart client, you can edit workflows. Members of vmo admin group could connect, edit, start workflows without no more configuration in VMO.

2 how many license am i have if i have three esx host

LCM needs it's own licenses.

3 the account lcm used how to setup ,on AD?

I don't understand the question...
