How to login to the VCO client

Hi Team,

I am new to VCO and want to use it in my environment for automation purpose.

To do this, first I started the following two services under services.msc : VCenter Orchestrator Configuration service and Vcenter Orchestrator Server service.

Then launched the VCO configuration tool by typing the URL http://localhost:8283 in the browser. Logged in with the default credentials and changed the password. After that under the network tab made sure that the IP is pointing to 127.0.0.1(because

the VCO server is on the same server). Then made sure that the service is running under startup otions. After this I launched the VCO client. Under the hostname I have entered local host( because VCO server is installed on the same server and VCO

client is also in the same server). For username and password I have entered vcoadmin/vcoadmin. But that does not allow me to get into it. Is there anything else that I need to configure so as to get into VCO client?

Please help!

Regards,

Sushma.

Hi Sushma,

There is nothing else you need to configure - vCO 5.5.1 comes pre-configured and should work out of the box.

A few things to check:

1) You said 'Under the hostname I have entered local host'. Have you entered it as it appears in your post - with a space character between local and host, or a single word localhost. It should be a single word.

2) Could you try with the IP - 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost?

3) Could you try to configure the real machine IP instead of 127.0.0.1? Note that you may need to restart the service after you change the configuration.

4) Could you check if there any errors/exceptions in the log files? By default, they should be

  - C:\Program Files\VMware\Orchestrator\apps\vso.log (this is the log files of vCO client)

  - C:\Program Files\VMware\Orchestrator\app-server-logs\server.log (this is the log file of vCO server)

Did everything as said above, what I missed out was restart of the configuration server. Now everthing is working.

Thanks for your help!
