Having problems add Data Protection to vmware orchestrator

Here is what I am trying to do in a nutshell, I want to use vmwware orchestrator to stop a group of vms and then force a Data Protection backup job and then turn the vms back on. Something that is oddly missing in the Data Protection backup job definition.

Here is what I did:

Installed Data Protection Appliance (vSphere Data Protection 6.1 (powered by EMC)) into the vsphere environment (vsphere 6.0, vcenter 6.0)

Confirmed that VDP appliance is working correctly.

Then I downloaded the VDP Plugin for orchestrator (edp4vcac-2.0.0.73.vmoapp)

Installed the plugin into an embedded vro within a vra appliance (7.0.0.3310137 Build 3310137)

Then ran the "Add Data Protection System" workflow

With the following options

And I get the following error

I have tried the root, admin, administrator@vsphere.local and vsphere.local\administrator and continue to get the same error.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Though VDP is a stripped down version of Avamar,  The plug-in meant from Avamar need not necessariliy work for VDP. Did you find any official support statement from VMware claiming VDP plugin for Orchestrator ? If not, then you are experimenting...

I was afraid that was going to be the answer. Does VDP expose APIs, maybe I can do it from a simple REST call?

VDP do not expose APIs at this point
