Cannot install vCO 32bit client

I upgraded vCenter from 4.1U3 to 5.0U2. I also upgraded vCO from 4.2 to 4.2.2.

The server installation has no problem but I cannot install vCO 32bit client. The installer says

cannot find temporary at the most startup.

Is there any way to install vCO 4.2.2 32bit client ?

Ok, It seems the file you download from VMware site is corrupted by any reason. So you have two options:

1. you can go to vco server home page (I think in 4.2.2 it is http://orchestrator_ip) and use java web start client by clicking Start Orchestrator Client link

2. go to vco server home page (if it is not  http://orchestrator_ip/ you can go there by clicking the link in Start menu/VMware) and press Download vCenter Orchestrator Client Installable and download the 32-bit client exe - it should work

Hope this helps,

Galina

What does the installer log say? Can you attach that?

Installation of 32-bit client should work out of the box.

Could you provide more info about your setup? Is it appliance, or a standalone installation? Which operating system you are trying to install 32-bit client on?

I want to install:

vCenterOrchestratorClient-32bit-4.2.2-33.exe

at the VMware downloads of vSphere 5.0.

The vCenter and vCO on my server are 5.0U2.

When I invoke vCenterOrchestratorClient-32bit-4.2.2-33.exe, the following message appears:

I006.JPG

There is no log at My Documents folder or event viewer.

I tried to select the location to extract the installer:

I007.JPG

I select C:\temp and nothing occurs...

Hi,

Did you manually install vCO server 4.2.2 or it was installed as part of vCenter? If it is installed silently with the vCenter the vCO client should be installed automatically and you have to go to start menu Programs\VMware and start the client. Could you check?

Galina

I installed vCO manually on Windows Server 2008 R2 and it is working fine. The server is running and the client on the same server works.

I want to use 32bit client on my PC at my desk. I do not want to connect to vCenter server through remote desktop.

I just double-checked it and can confirm that the 32-bit installer executable file is corrupted.

Could you contact your TAM (or whatever VMware point of contact you are using) and ask him to open a Service Request?

The problem is fixed. The official download of vCO 32bit client at the VMware site is replaced with the good package.
