5.5 "Cannot connect to host"

Good evening,

We've installed 5.5 and re-imported our prior 5.1 config. When attempting to login to the VCO client, the "Cannot connect to host" message is being returned. This happens regardless of using the IP or FQDN.

Authentication is set to LDAP, and we have tested the login using the test login tab, the account works fine and all items green in the configuration page. Both services are running. Don't see anything obvious in the logs either.

Any insight on what else to check appreciated. Thanks.

I was able to workaround this and connect by doing the following:

- Remove VCO 5.5 and ensure all related folders were deleted

- Re-install VCO 5.5

- Modify the values in the configuration by copy/pasting into the new server for LDAP, Database, Mail from another 5.1 server using similar settings

- Set the remaining values manually, i.e. VC, certificates

Previously, I had done the install and reimport the saved config from the prior 5.1 version. I don't know where the issue is what that, but it wouldn't work.

In what format do you enter AD user name? Domain\Account or Account@Domain.com or Account@Domain?

See if on of it works.

I've tried the following:

username

domainname\username

username@domainname

None works. With our 4.1/5.1 servers, you simply need to enter username with a leading domainname\ and it logs you in fine.

How about username@domain.com?

That's what we tried. Thanks.

Is there a long timeout before the error, or you get it immediately?
Can you successfully ping/telnet the vco host from the computer where the client runs?
Which version of the client are you using?

Are you sure it is the newly installed one, and not the old from 5.1?
You can try setting the port explicitly in the hostname field, like
12.34.56.78:8281

Best regards

I agree with Jinnie's post - make sure you are specifying the SSL port for your vCO server when launching the client - default is port 8281

Thanks, but still no luck. I should mention we are trying the client directly on VCO server. Client is 5.5, all prior versions were removed prior to the install. All configuration items green, and both services running.Untitled.png

Anything in the log that can searched for? Nothing is obvious there.

I still suspect some connectivity issue, not authentication problem.
If weboperator is running on the system, can you try logging in from there, so we are sure the user is fine?
