vcenter and database locations????

can i (or what it is the best practice)  put vcenter and sql database in one site (site A),

and in another location (geographically) the hosts and guests (site B) ????

my question is about sql work, do you think it will work fine, or the performance will degrade, and will be slow and jitty?

thx you all.

As written you need enough bandwith ad a low latency (to avoid hosts disconnection).

But is possible, and for "small" remote or branch office is usual.

Hi Oronyaniv,

Welcome to the forums.

That is what we do with a single central vCenter server that manages several ESXs on different sites. It works fine as long as network links have enough bandwidth and are reliable.

Good luck.

The vCenter DB is just the back-end. It store configurations (only few are in files, like vCenter certificates), inventory, statistics.

Note that some info are also stored on each host or in VM folders.
