vRealize Operations Manager upgrade Question

I'm new to vRealize and no training yet.  Looking at upgrading from our 6.6.1 version to 7.0.  I have deployed a new test 7.0 appliance and patched it.  I'm wondering if I can monitor a production vCenter with the new test appliance while it is currently being monitored with the 6.6.1 production appliance without causing problems?

I believe you CAN do that, but in our environment it was recommended NOT to do that due to duplication of data & IOPs. We have 11 vCenters and over 700 Hosts. Depending on the size of your environment, you will want to consider that.

It is not a problem monitoring the same vcenter from multiple vrops instances. We have a capacity instance and a alerting instances monitoring the same 20 vcenters for the last two years with no problems. You can only register one instance of vrops plugin with the vcenters

Yes. You can have multiple instances of vROps monitoring the same vCenter. It will work and  it is fully supported.
