vROPS v8 Business intent storage vmotion?

Hi All,

I was wondering if it was possible to use vROPS v8.5 optimization business intent to align VMs to datastore clusters?

We have a metro cluster and would like to locate VMs to a sites datastore cluster and compute resources.

This should all be configured on the vCenter side.  See this link on how to make VMs stay on specific hosts and datastores

Thanks for that documentation, this seems to accurately represent what we have implemented.

However I didnt see where this article says wether vROPS can align VMs between (site based) datastore clusters via a tag like they can between compute clusters or nodes in a cluster...?

As per a metro cluster, both sites data stores are connected to all nodes in the compute cluster so manually storage vmotioning them is not a big deal...

You would use Workload optimization feature to do this, just follow the wizard.  You will need Tags.  But like I mentioned earlier this should all be handled in vCenter.

Yes i have read that doco before but must have missed the last line "The system does not consider any tags of storage - that is, datastores or datastore clusters."

This seems to be an answer to my original question that you can not use business indents to migrate VM between any storages.
This has been my experience thus far unless you can confirm this works?
