Hi all,
Did anyone know the "performance impact" of operation manager collecting data against the virtual infrastructure?
Is the collection running only against vCenter and its DB or also against the hosts?
Is vCops a potential performance issue?
Many thanks
Eric
Eric-
Agreed. We connect to 6 vCenter Servers (linked mode) globally from our US vCops vAPP with no noticeable performance hit to the environment. As Chris pointed out the analytics VM takes a big CPU hit around 1am everyday as it crunches numbers but that is to be expected.
Nothing significant from my experience. Collection points depend on your license level, but I believe Standard and Advanced only talk to vCenter (beyond that can talk to other entities via plugins). Most of the performance sensitive piece happens in the Analytics VM (part of the vCOPs vApp) as it crunches the data for trending and such.
Effectivly none.
All of the statistics that vCops gathers from your vCenter host are *already* being gathered by vCenter anyways.

Hiya Eric,
There is really no noticable impact on the vCenter, and none on the hosts.
Take care
Erik
Hi all,
thank you very much for your replies.
I feel more confident about the integration of vCops into our production environment.
thank you all again.
