moving vcops to different vcentr

What is the best way to move vcops to a new vcenter?

shutdown the vapp and export to ovf?

Why not just make a new vCOPs installation ? Even if you move your old host/VMs to the new vCenter, they will get new IDs.

Take a look at this another thread: Move vCops vApp

Hi,

Not 100% sure what you meant. It is just moving the vC Ops from 1 vCenter to another? If that's the case, I don't see why not. Just shut it down, move the VM manually to the new datastore (that is managed by the new vCenter), and create the vApp manually. You probably need to link them (there is a KB for it), although I hope not as you are not changing IP address.

It will be good to give background on why you want to do it, so we know the context. Right now, I'm not clear what's the exact scope of the question. I'm assuming you are not changing the license vCenter where vC Ops is tied.

Cheers!

I was able to successfully move vcops vapp UI VM and Analytics VM from one vcenter to another with this kb

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=205149...

Thanks
