how to get reliable reclaimable memory information

vRom 6 displays very high reclaimable memory recommendations that are not correct as it only uses the last touched memory pages in a timeframe. I have a 16 GB RAM machine where vROM tells me that 14,4 GB are reclaimable. If I check in the OS I see that 7 GB are permanently used. Hyperic recommends to reclaim 6 GB which seems to be a good value. Is there are way to get a good value from vRom without needing to install the Hyperic agent to all systems? In my opinion this feature us useless the way it is now. If I follow the recommendations there I will kill some machines and run into big problems.
