VROps 6.1 - Utilization Dashboard missing

Jump to solution

We are using vSphere Enterprise Plus 5.5 with vRealize Operations Manager Standard (6.1.0, build 3038036). I try to access the new "Utilization Dashboard" (like shown at VMworld Europe 2015), but I can't find it. A little search of the Internet leaded me to "Jason Gaudreau's Blog: vRealize Operations Manager - Creating a Custom Monitoring Portal". There the instructions say, that I have to go to Content - Dashboards - and then I can add this Dashboard by clicking the + sign. Sadly I don't have the + sign (and I even don't have the Actions-Button in the menu bar).

Does anyone have a clue how to get the + or the Actions button on this particular Screen? (the Actions button is present at other Screens).

Thanks

Roland

If you can't add a new dashboard, then by proxy you can't use the new widget.  The only way you will be able to get use out of it is to either upgrade the license, or if VMware publishes a dashboard in an update which contains that widget inherently.

Your ID must not have privileges to create dashboards.  I would log in as admin, not only to get the option to create custom dashboards, but also to edit the permissions you currently have to include creating dashboards.

Also, the Capacity Utilization Dashboard you refer to, is not a dashboard, but a new widget.  You'll have to create the dashboard and customize the widget yourself.

Thanks. now I think, I have the next problem. Even the admin-User does not belong to the role "Administrator" (and even worse - no user belongs to this role). So I think I should fix that first...

The problem with the missing Administrator role is fixed, but we only licensed the Standard Edition of vRealize Operations Manager. Adding a new Dashboard is a Feature of the Enterprise Edition. So my real questions seem to be: "is it possible to use the Utilization Widget with the vRealize Standard Edition? And if so, does anybody know how?"

Thanks
