Upgrade vCenter where vCOPS is running

Hi all,

Is there any thing special I need to think of when upgrading vCenter 4.1 to 5.0u1 in relation to vCOPS 5.0 that is running in it?

Hi ramkrishna1,

Thanks for your reply. But I was hoping that someone could point me out a document or KB or something with some more info.

I am not sure how this upgrade is supposed to work, but:

if it wipes out VCDB, and creates new UUID for that updated VC, you will most-likely have to re-register with vcops

Hey robdjong,

I have upgraded the vcenter from 4.1 to 5.0 U1 while the vCOps is running. These are the things i noticed .

  • When you upgrade the vcenter to 5.0 U1 the vcops cannot start itself collecting the data after upgrade.
  • You have to re-register the vcenter again to the vCOps.
  • You wont loose any of the statistical data collected by vCOps when the vcenter is in 4.1 Version.
  • I didnt find any KB at the time of my vcenter upgrade too.

Thanks
