Does vROPS have the ability to schedule VM resource changes?
I need to increase the memory on numerous Windows VMs (hot-add is not enabled), but the only downtime opportunity is during automated monthly OS-patching windows. I'd much rather be asleep at those times.
I know vROPS has the ability to set a VM's resources and reboot if necessary (Ive used this many times), but if would be terrific if this could be scheduled natively. I know how to script this action using PowerCLI and trigger it using Windows Task Scheduler, but Im wondering if Im just not seeing this functionality in vROPS. If not, I think this could be an awesome feature.
Just wanted to see if you ever were able to figure this out? My company is trying to compare Turbonomic and vROPS right sizing and we can duplicate everything so far except scheduling...which is pretty big
Sadly it looks like this is not possible and is very unfortunate. It's so close with automating rightsizing up, but not down.
There is no built-in schedule right sizing task as far as i know. Another option would be by using vROps and vRO together. With vRO you can schedule a workflow to do automating rightsizing.
