Hello,
I installed vCenter Operations long time ago and I use an AD account to have access to the vCenter Operations Standard view.
BUT when I try to login to the vCenter Operations Standard Administration my account does not work, I guess I am using the wrong account but now i cannot remember. Same thing for vCenter Operations Standard Console in my vClient.
How do I Reset the root password?
thanks!
hi there,
there are 2 items to mention here:
the *admin* account for VCOps admin page is not AD account; it's a separate account specific to vcops.
upon first install you should've changed its password to something (try recalling what )
the *root* password for the VA is changed to that very password as well !
anyway, in order to reset the *root* password (and only the root password!), follow steps in this KB article:
http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2001476
note that, the password for the *admin* account in the UI will not be changed by that procedure.
now, for changing the *admin* account password, follow instructions in that KB:
http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2001483
now, changing the admin password will also change your root password, remember that :smileyconfused:
how that helps :smileyshocked:
