Random alerts from vCOPS

I keep getting loads of emails from vCOPS such as:

Alert was cancelled
at Thu Jun 19 10:20:33 BST 2014:

Info:High number of metrics outside their normal bounds: 70 abnormal metrics
out of 396 metrics monitored.

I have no idea where these are configured exactly and how I can stop them.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You probably have an alert handler in the Custom UI doing that OR a notification set in the vSphere UI.

Go to the Custom UI > Support > Outbound alerts, and you'll see a handler started. If you stop it, it'll stop alertng you until you have a chance to adjust the filterrules. Open the custom ui admin guide and search the string "emailFilter.xml" and it'll bring you to the section needed to adjust the email filter rules.

In vSphere UI, just open the notification window from the top right bar to see configured alerts.

Hi Mark, I've had a look in the emailFilter.xml file and there are loads of entries but I can't see the one that would stop such alerts.  Unfortunately the custom ui admin guide only tells you how to edit the emailFilter.xml file rather than specific alerts.

Do you have alerts configured in the vSphere UI or Custom UI?

Some times false alerts come through application .

You need to monitor if its false or not
