Question on licence support for vROps Manager

Jump to solution

I am using standard licence for vCenter

Enterprise licence for vSAN [which supports vRealize Operations with in vCenter]

To take advantage of my vSAN licence, do we need separate vROps licence since I am using standard vCenter licence?

Appreciate your response

Thank You,
Volga

Below blog will give you more information regarding your question. This also applicable for vROps versions higher than 6.7.

vRealize Operations and vSAN licensing with new 6.7 release - VMware Cloud Management

vRealize Operations within vCenter provides 6 dashboards: Giving insights but not actions. Actions are only available with full edition of vRealize Operations/vRealize Operations Advanced. vRealize Operations within vCenter provides global operations view powered by vRealize Operations all within vCenter.

For vSAN only customers:

Only vSAN Advanced and Enterprise will unlock vRealize Operations within vCenter with 6 dashboards.

Hey Volga,

Defiantly you can take advantage of your vSAN licence for vRO with in vcenter but I think we need separate licence for vROps manager since you are holding std vcenter licence

Licence experts, correct me if I read this post wrong and proving wrong information

Thank you,

Vkmr.

Thanks for providing me with link

I was thinking if we did not want to keep vROps after 60 days it should not affect those 6 views in vcenter, correct? [even we shut down the vROps]

appreciate your reply

After the 60 day trial, the vSAN customers have the option to purchase vRealize Operations Standard, Advanced, and Enterprise for Full spectrum vSAN management: Centralized visibility of vSAN across multiple vCenters along with actionable alerts.

If the vSAN customer does not purchase they will still have access to the vRealize Operations within vCenter 6 dashboard but will only have insights but not actions.

You need to leave it powered on otherwise you will not get current insights.

That's correct as RickVerstegen mentioned you have to keep vROps VM running

Thanks for valuable information, it really helps me for feature planning

if we did not get vROps licenses after 60 day's, we can not able to take any vROps related code upgrades, correct?

I think indeed this is the case.

I would be surprised if you can upgrade without a license or expired license.

That's correct just be on safe side ask this in a new thread but mostly you should get full license for code upgrades
