Preventing specific VM's from landing on specific ESX Hosts.

Hello all,

We have several ESX 4.1 hosts in a cluster. I want to prevent some VM's (SQL's servers) from landing on specific ESX Hosts.

I've looked through the best practices and sort, but can't find anything that relates to our issue.

Any help is appreciated

Take a look at the DRS Host Affinity rules. To make sure the VM's are not started on specific hosts even in case of HA, create a "must" Anti Affinity rule.

I setup a rule using DRS groups, and set the servers in the group that I didnt want the specific VM's landing on.
