Have a look at the SNMP management pack. That should give you some sort of data (I dont know the MDS 9700 that well).

I don't know. 🙂

That is something you have to test. Maybe there is a MIB file that you can upload to vROps which contains all that you are looking for. But like I said I dont own a Cisco MDS so can't really help you any further.

Hey mate

You can monitor basic information, CPU and Memory will be easy enough, ports, etc is a little harder.

Install the SNMP Management Pack, Configure SNMP on your Device

Add the Device in vRops

When Adding the device in vRops, there is a dropdown called MIB File.  Add CISCO-PROCESS-MIB and CISCO-MEMORY-POOL.MIB

provide the credentials etc.

Once you have done that, create a policy and attach it, in the policy enable any values you see as appropriate and wait 🙂

I didnt get any value out of the CISCO-MEMORY-POOL.MIB so I downloaded another called CISO-ENHANCED-MEMPOOL-MIB.mib, uploaded this and enabled it.

as for monitoring bandwidth, i have had zero luck achieving this on cisco devices, the closest I have is the TVS management packs, these are very limited tho.

Good Luck
