How to handle Object Relationships with plugin generated metrics/properties?

One of the cool features of vROPs is its ability to use plugins to gather data from VMware Infra related objects like SAN.   However,  there seems to be a disconnect in that the external objects added to vROPs do not create relationships with their corresponding vROPs tracked objects.   For example,   I would like to be able to click on troubled VM and see that it is on X datastore and see the associated SAN plugin properties for that datastore.   This would allow me to see if the cause of the VM slowness issue is possibly related to the Storage Processor that the Datastore/LUN is on.    It seems like plugin data is on its own island.

Am I missing something about relationship of plugin objects to vCenter Adapter tracked objects?    If this is not done automatically,  is there an automated or semi-automated way to generate these relationships?

Thanks,

-Matt
