Granting access to vCOPS

Hi community,

What's the best way to go about granting read access to vCOPS for an active directory group?

Have you already import these Active Directory Group to vCOPS?

If YES.

You can create in the "custom-ui" an separate Group with these rights you want for these Active Directory Group.

If you want to grant access in the vSphere webclient it is more complex. You have to create a new Role with the permission for "vCops read only" and put these Role / Group at the top of your vCenter! BUT attention: do not propagate these Role to children

Also if you want to grant access in the  vcops-custom UI. You should login in custom UI go to Admin->Security page In the User Managemant tab User Accounts section import your Active Directory Group, then from Access Rights tab grant permissions to the group members.

If you import a user to and logon to the Advanced UI prior to configuring security in the Custom UI, you will need to flush the user from the useraccount table in order to import the user in to the Custom UI. See below KB:
