I am trying to understand how to integrate the various monitoring tools that organizations may into vCops. SCOM is pretty straightforward, buy the license and implement the adapter, but what type of data can I gather? Will the SCOM adapter allow me to view specific perfmon data. For example, could I pull SAP perfmon data and then associate it with the SAP VM that vCops is monitoring?
What about these tools:
Customers like what they see with vCops and then the next question is how to integrate their existing tools into vCops.

MattG, I have lots of third party data combined into vcops. We use application tiers and I am considering how tagging might help instead. But I can combine data from different sources into one container and get a health score and root cause for leading indicator across all the sources.
Can you provide some examples of which 3rd party tools and how you are getting the data into vCops?

The data sources are common adapters, plus the generalsql loader adapter for some NON-IT data. For instance... hyperic and OEM can both get performance metrics, but oem is focused on the app tier, while hyperic can get app info, thru to network adapter data. I utilize groups and tiers to get a better overall health score for the tier 1 apps mostly.
If the cpu measurements can be provided by four sources, I just use all four to help the teams understand performance and what other tools report, without having to be admins or know how to use the other tools. They can see them all in vcops at once if they want that dashboard, or app layout.
Hi,
we operate this together with Hyperic and Solarwinds Orion (NPM as well as NTA). Solarwinds was done via SQL and Relationships adapter. Hyperic is native.

I am assuming with the SQL adapter, you need to identify where the target tool stores its metrics and then update the SQL adapter with that information? Can you show an example of what a SQL to Solarwinds config looks like?
Thanks,
