Backup vCOP using Veritas Volume Manager

Hi All,

I will appreciate if someone can provide guidence in order to achieve objective of taking backup of vCOP appliance using Symantec Netbackup.

1. Do VMWare suport Symantec Netbackup for vCOP appliance backup?

2. Can we add additional dedicated NIC card to appliance indidvidual VM for dedicated backup traffic?

3. Where can I find documented process for backup/restore of vCOP appliances if it crashed?

Appreciate your help in advance..

Hello Pawan,

Backup and recovery of the vApp can be accomplished in a few different ways - I document some in this blog posting...

I would not add an additional vNIC for backup.  Generally speaking, I would backup using a solution that provides for snapshot based backups.  You may want to look into using the free VMware Data Protection appliance for this if your current solution doesn't support vApp and snapshot based backups.
