upgrade from 4.8 to 8.1.x totally failed

I tried the upgrade to 8.1.0 today,
after at first solving the disk rootpart limits .
starting the update upload rotating around an hour , never completed.
Now i switched back to snapshot created before.

If try again upgrade to 8.1.1 it says already complete, but it is really only version 4.8 .

what can I do ?

How is your setup and how do you perform the upgrade? Do you use vRSLCM?

Any luck first upgrading to 8.0?

I used Chrome webbrowser.
uploaded as Clusterupdate  VMware-vRealize-Log-Insight-8.1.0-15994158.pak

after an hour i feel it failed , and i restored last snapshot.

but then i found KB regarding wrong gateway settings and corrected, now tried VMware-vRealize-Log-Insight-8.1.1-16281169.pak,
but unsuccesfull it said it would be already on 8. it isn't.

I restarted chrome, but no success either. now it is problem for next year . . .

Do you have 1 vRLI node or a cluster?

Maybe this KB is helpfull if you're on a cluster:

Hi

You have probably encountered the bug with Grub selecting 4.8 (Suse Linux) as default boot instead of the new 8.1.1 (PhotonOS).

Here is a KB from VMware that helps you solve the issue so that it boots on 8.1.1 instead of the 4.8
