vra appliance root login locked out

I was able to login to my appliance via the web portal

https://vra.localdomain:5480

as root

but I cannot login using the same password on the console. IT says account locked out.

any idea how to reset?

try this.

1

In the VMRC console, log in as the other user.

2

Check the number of failed login attempts from the shell prompt.

faillog -u root_user  (try "root" simply if root_user doesnt work)

3

Unlock the failed account.

faillog -u root_user -r

What is the "other" user ?   I used to just logon as "root" .  Not sure what "other" user to use?  Any suggestions?

there is no other by default and these appliance are black boxes.
If we make changes to appliance it will become unsupported action.
if we want to unlock or reset , we should use below documentation for same.
