Hello
I am going through the wonderful pain which is the vRA IAAS installation (why is it so crazy!?)
anyway I am trying to establish if its normal for it to take around 2hrs (last time failed at 1hr 50 mins so trying again now)
most blogs and videos I have read (I have read most!) say it "takes a while" / "takes a few minutes"
any opinions appreciated
Yes. I definitely does not take hours. Did you check the logs after it failed the first time?
just waiting for it to fail again and will post logs. I have been through approximately 20 attempts and read many blogs on what to change and configure. its beyond frustrating. Thanks for comfirming what i thought (that it shouldnt take 2 hours to install!)
how long should it take (roughly?)
OK to the install passed! I am very happy but wanted to note the part which took 2 hours (120 minutes)
doesnt seem right. every other step took seconds to 5 minutes max.
Executing:"C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\vCAC\Server\ConfigTool\vCAC-Config.exe" /S "/P:C:\Users\ADMIN-~2\AppData\Local\Temp\1\vCAC\Msi\ConfigToolProperties.vCAC-Server-ConfigTool.xml" "/L:C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\vCAC\InstallLogs\vCAC-Config.log"
Execution time:7242.562
Hmmm do you have less resources for the IaaS host?
That's the only reason i can think of. Anyway good to know it finally installed and that too without issues
Update - just checked my last install and it has completed in 11 minutes :smileysilly:

I'd be curious to know what it's installing onto, that is *really* slow.
Grant
do you have a load balancer? are all your iaas services split out? ours are. what are you lb settings ? what version of sql? and gpos that have iis locked down?
our iaas box is painfully slow in 2 different inviroments, I even made a new ou blocked all gpos and added all the vcac sites to the local intranet, box is 2 x 8 and just SITS there. this last upgrade took 3 hours. the part that takes the longest it seems... is
and this is after tonights testing. this is totally gonna suck

sounds painful
we had the fips algorithm policy set my GPO which caused problems (since fixed)
not running a load balancer. running a POC (badly!) in a lab environment with the most basic of installs
as i have posted in other threads i have no managed to "break" the iaas-service and vco so they no longer show as REGISTERED in the appliance but just blank. I think im going to have to rebuild yet again. havent even got close to publishing machines for building. compared with other VMware products this is just crazy
