vRA 8.4.1 Shared a secret property

Hi everybody

In vRA 8.4.1 i want shared a secret property with other projects. It's possible ?

I have find a workaround with vRO , i store the value in a secure config key and call it with action in the user form but it's not ideal

Thanks

If for a "custom script" you mean ABX, then you can create the secrets there (called Action Constants) and they are shared with other actions. If you are using vRO, then you will need to place the passwords in vRO.

I couldn't find a way to do this. It seems the secret properties exist at the project level and can't be shared between projects.

What is your use case? Why do you need a shared secret?

For example when i deploy a template i use a password for custom script. I want store the password in a encrypted property group. but if i share this template with other project the property is not available and the template can't deploy.

This password is shared with different cloud template. But the same problem with hash password , license key or other confidential information.

This action where possible in 7.6 but not in 8.4

version 8.8: Is there a way to pass a securestring from vRO to vRA custom properties as an encrypted custom property? Trying just as secure string it adds to custom properties but in plain text. Trying with the vRO property as encrypted string the provisioning just stalls.

Use case is a credential to be included in cloudConfig. It does work using Secrets but this is the same credential for every project and there are over 60 so it is a lot of administrative overhead to put the same value over and over. Trying to find a way to have the masked value in one location if possible.
