vRA 8.1 More customisation for HardDisk

Good day

I am new to VRA BluePrint scripting.

Maybe I was looking in the wrong place.

If I add several disks in blueprint, then when creating a VM, disks other than the first system one are created in random order.

Is it possible to somehow fix the order of creating disks in the new VM during customisation?

Also, for my task, it would be suitable for the blueprint to indicate which SCSI device to connect which disk

Hey GriAlek,

So basically i just found this post that says that Disk order is not supported at this moment, at least out-of-the-box: https://knotacoder.com/2020/07/22/optionally-adding-disks-with-vrealize-automation-cloud/. I know it is for vRA Cloud but essentially is the same product.

At the end of the post you can see that he mentions that VMware included some custom properties for specifying the SCSI Controller unit and to control the unique identifier. However those are included in the API as I understood but they are not included in vRA so I think you will have to wait till the next release.

Disk ordering and UI management is planned for future releases of vRA8  at present, this workaround can be used https://code.vmware.com/samples/7490/provisioning-additional-disks-with-vra8-with-ordered-mountpoint...  that aims to work around the issue. Instead of forcing the disk attachments in a particular order and assume the device position for volume labels/drive letters, this submission will allow you to determine which attached disk matches the blueprint defined disk and subsequently, format and label the volume inside the guest
