vCAC to vCO to VCM (or) vCAC to VCM? Best practice?

Hello folks,

Its been documented and said that vCAC integrates well with vCO out of the box.

But from a overall solution point of view, does vCO integrates with VCM/vCOPS and then have vCAC integrated with vCO to gain all the added functionality that VCM/vCOPS offer?

or does vCAC provides a direct integration with VCM/vCOPS?

thanks!

I'm not aware of direct integration from vCAC to/from VCM/vCOPs...

The Configuration Manager team released a vCenter Orchestrator package on the solution exchange here: https://solutionexchange.vmware.com/store/products/vmware-vcenter-orchestrator-package-for-vcenter-c...

Once imported, that package provides a number of workflows that make API calls to Configuration Manager to do a variety of things.

There was a recent blog post around vCO integration with Operations Manager here: vCenter Operations integration with vCenter Orchestrator in 5 minutes or less | VMware vCenter Orche...

While the two links provided above may not fit your exact needs at this time, they may prove helpful in planning your integrations. vCAC does very well with policy, User Interface, etc... It is a wise move to take advantage of vCAC's integration with vCO to leverage its powerful plug-in architecture, workflow library, and growing community.

thanks Burke!

Just to reiterate., is it safe to say that vCO be integrated with VCM and then use vCAC as front end to connect to vCO and perform/request actions?

Also, by any chance does vCO offer any workflow packages to communicate with CMDB/Service manager?

thanks again..

Yes, use vCAC as front-end, as for CMDBs and Service Manager type products, you can use the SOAP, HTTP-REST, SQL, PowerShell, or MAIL plug-ins for vCO depending on the types of integration available for the target system... Otherwise, you can use vCO's "command" object to execute any local scripts/commands that vCO's Operating System supports (IE: if a CMDB provides command line utilities for Windows and your vCO server is Windows, then you could execute those commands from the vCO server using the "comand" object).
