vCAC AD login is pretty slow

vCAC 6.0 AD login in general seems pretty slow.  Anyone else notice this in their vCAC environment?  Would like to see if there is any way to improve performance.  I don't think it's necessarily due to a lack of resources in this case.

Hi stacycarter,

Yeah, I have heard a few complaints about slow logins. Here's a few things you could try:

1 - Check that the user doesn't belong to more than 5 AD groups. Test with a user who belongs to just one / two AD groups. I hear there was an issue around this which was solved in 6.0.1

2 - Make sure your AD config doesn't point to the base DN, but actually where you users reside. You could test this and use an explicit location in AD to see if this helps speeds up the login process.

3 - Look at these 2 blogs:

http://www.virtualizationteam.com/cloud/how-to-fix-vcac-6-ad-login-is-very-slow.html

http://tenthirtyam.org/vcac-6-authentication-workaround-in-a-complex-multi-domain-active-directory-d...

4 - Hardcode your AD server IP address and hostname config in your hosts files in all of the vCAC components, SSO, vCAC VA and vCAC IaaS server. If this helps, check your DNS resolution responses and your DNS config.

5 - I have heard the latest version of SSO 2.0. 5.5b helps but you need to run vCAC 6.0.1

Let me know if you find out how to speed this up

Oli
